Heart of Willoughby
Structural Material Optimisation
Developed efficient structural schemes that minimised material use without compromising strength, safety, or design intent, achieving cost savings and sustainability targets.
Shoring Design Rationalisation for Construction Convenience
Engineered innovative and practical shoring solutions that simplified the excavation and basement works, reduced on-site complexity, and improved construction speed and safety.
Concurrent Design of Multiple Building Types
Successfully led the structural design of six distinct building types within the development simultaneously, ensuring consistency, coordination, and seamless integration across varying architectural forms and functional requirements.
The Heart of Willoughby is an exciting redevelopment project transforming the Willoughby Legion Ex-Services Club into a state-of-the-art community hub.
At the core of the project are three key pillars: Club Willoughby’s revitalisation, the new Hyegrove luxury retirement community, and a thoughtfully designed aged care living precinct. With construction underway since early 2022, the project is on track for completion by late 2024.
Our role has been critical in supporting the diverse range of facilities within this precinct, including a three-storey hospitality venue, a multi-level residential complex, and bespoke aged care homes.
The redevelopment pays homage to the club’s historical significance, incorporating memorial gardens and spaces for commemorative events like Anzac Day. We worked closely with the architects and stakeholders to ensure that the engineering framework supported these heritage elements without compromising modern performance standards.
